Family Support

The Texas Civil Commitment Office (TCCO) supports and encourages clients to develop and maintain positive social support. Individuals who are positive social support are those who encourage self-control strategies, promote pro-social values and behaviors, encourage and support the treatment process, and challenge and report high-risk behaviors. The goal is to assist clients to live a lifestyle that is incompatible to offending behavior, with the ultimate goal of no more victims.

Family Liaison Information

TCCO acknowledges that family members and other appropriate social supports may have questions or concerns regarding a client's treatment, supervision, visitation, communication, relationships or other aspects of the civil commitment program.  TCCO is authorized by Chapter 420A of the Texas Government Code to designate a Family Liaison to facilitate the continuation and maintenance of ties between a client and the client's family who are supportive of the client's participation in the TCCO treatment and supervision program.

Families are encouraged to communicate with the client's assigned Case Manager regarding the client's status, treatment progress, supervision requirements and other client-specific updates and to utilize the case management chain of command.  When a family member is unable to obtain the requested information or needed assistance through the TCCO website or the assigned Case Manager, Unit Supervisor, and Civil Commitment Manager, the family member may contact the TCCO Family Liaison for additional assistance, clarification, or follow-up.  The Family Liaison's role is to ensure that family concerns are appropriately heard, reviewed and answered. The Family Liaison will serve as a resource to families by assisting with questions and concerns related to TCCO programs and client-specific matters.  Please note, the Family Liaison does not schedule visitation with a client nor will the Family Liaison override or independently modify treatment decisions, supervision requirements, tier placement, contact approval, release decisions or other decisions assigned to designated TCCO staff.
